HPU Baseball Named 2009 NCAA D-III Triples Per Game Champion

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne Baseball team led the NCAA Division III in Triples Per Game and was awarded statistical award for Triples Per Game by the NCAA.
The Yellow Jackets as a team posted 33 triples in 36 games this season for almost a one per game average. Jordan Hammontree led Howard Payne with eight followed closely by Blake Shaffer and Kyle Lloyd with six each. Hammontree finished third in triples per game (8th in total triples) individually in the nation and Shaffer and Lloyd where also 14th and 20th respectively in the NCAA III.
