Lady Jackets Move To 2-0

CLINTON, Mississippi College – The Howard Payne women's basketball team held Huntingdon College to just 25% shooting in the second half as the Lady Jackets claim the 76-66 victory on day two of the Mississippi College Tournament.

Howard and Huntingdon had 18 and 19 turnovers respectively but it was the Lady Jackets that would take advantage leading Huntingdon 27-16 in point off of turnovers.

Both teams would shoot around 37% in the first half with HPU holding a 44-37 halftime lead. The Lady Jackets then buckled down defensively in the second holding Huntingdon to 25% shooting the rest of the way.

Tresta Donahoo had another huge game for HPU with a game high 24 points on 8-16 shooting with 10 rebounds. Danyel Bradley followed with 16 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Dana Marrs was also in double digits with 10 points and a game high six assists.

Britani Gattis had nine and Breanna Conway added eight points with four blocks for the Lady Jackets. Senae Dillard and Morgan Marriott each had eight rebounds for HPU.

Huntingdon was led by Devin Douglas with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Morgan Crawford had 11 and Tanjanik Munford added a game high 12 rebounds.

The Lady Jackets will play next at home on Saturday, November 24th versus the University of Texas at Tyler starting at 1:00 pm.
