HPU took an early 10-2 lead in the first on a lay-up by Sr C McGuire(Haskel HS) with 17:11 on the clock. Sul Ross then cut HPU's lead to 4 on a lay-up by Sidney Hooper with 16:14 to play in the first. HPU again extended its lead to 18 on a 3-pointer by HPU's Jr. G Josh Weatherred(Claredon JC). HPU held Sul Ross to only 30.6% shooting in the first while HPU shot a red hot 60% in the first. The Jackets took a 49-33 lead going into the half.

In the second Sul Ross cut the HPU lead to 11 on a 3-pointer by Abraham Ely with 16:13 to play. But this would be as close as the Lobos would get as HPU again extend their lead to 28 on a free-throw by Jr. F Sean Wheeler(San Angelo-Lake View HS) with 8:40 to play. HPU shot 60% from the floor in the second half to go on to a win 94-74 victory.

All five HPU starters scored in double digits in scoring. Sr G Matt Zinser(Burnet HS) lead the Jackets with 18, Sean Wheeler with 17 points and 9 rebounds, Jamarcus Johnson(Beaver County CC) with 15, Kendrick Johnson(Willowridge HS) with 12, and Cliff McGuire's double-double of 15 point and 10 rebounds.

Sul Ross Lobos were lead by Sidney Hooper's 17 and C.J. Acosta's 22.

The Jackets will be back in action at the Brownwood Coliseum on January 5,2006 against University of Texas at Dallas.
