BROWNWOOD, TX…The Howard Payne softball team (4-10) won two and lost two games this weekend in the LeTourneau Tournament. The Jackets beat Nebraska Wesleyan 1-0 on Friday and Northwood 4-1 on Saturday. Jill McLaughlin (Brock, TX/Grayson CC) allowed three hits and struck out seven in her victory on Friday.
Tiffany Wolfe (Ft. Worth, TX/N. Crowley) pitched the victory on Saturday allowing one run, unearned, and three hits in seven innings.
Chelsey Densman (Eula, TX/EHS) pounded out a hit in each game, tallying five over the weekend.
McLaughlin would score two runs on three hits.
HPU will open ASC-West play on Tuesday when they travel to Abilene for a double header against Hardin-Simmons University.
