BROWNWOOD, TX…The powerful offensive attack from the Cowgirls of Hardin-Simmons (16-4/9-3 ASC) was too much for the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets (7-15/5-7 ASC) on Tuesday afternoon as they completed their season series sweep 11-1 and 13-3. Dayberly Hopper (Early, TX/EHS) went 5-for-6 with two RBIs and one run scored to lead the Jackets in the two losses.
The conference leading Cowgirls pounded out 24 hits and 24 runs in the two games. HPU's defense struggled all day, committing 11 errors.
Jill McLaughlin (Brock, TX/Grayson CC), Amanda Bludworth (Cedar Park, TX/U of Dallas) and Hopper went 2-for-3 in the second game.
Tiffany Wolfe (Ft. Worth, TX/N. Crowley HS) pitched the first game, throwing seven innings giving up 11 runs (seven earned) and allowing 13 runs.
McLaughlin received the loss in game two, throwing five innings allowing nine earned runs.
HPU will travel to San Antonio on Thursday to face Trinity University.
