SAN ANTONIO, TX…Powered by Tiffany Wolfe's (Ft. Worth, TX/N. Crowley HS) two-hitter, the Howard Payne softball team (8-16) defeated Trinity University 1-0 in the first game of their double header this afternoon in San Antonio. Wolfe struck out nine of the 35 batters she faced in the 10 inning ball game. The Tigers took the second game 5-1.
Tammie Hart (Richardson, TX/South Lake Carroll HS) knocked in Candra McKee (Paradise, TX/Northeast CC) in the top of the 10th inning to give HPU the eventual game winning run.
Wolfe helped her own cause going 3-for-4 at the plate.
In game two, HPU would only muster one run in the top of the fifth inning. Brooke Schneider (Yoakum, TX/YHS) batted in Tiffany Quick (Bangs, TX/Western College).
Dayberly Hopper (Early, TX/EHS) was the only Jacket with more than one hit.
Jill McLaughlin (Brock, TX/Grayson CC) took the loss for HPU, throwing four and two-thirds innings giving up five runs on nine hits.
