BROWNWOOOD, TX…Boosted by a Kasi McCain (Corsicana, TX/Mildred HS) two-run homer in the bottom of the first the HPU softball team won their season finale 8-3 to split today's double header against Texas Lutheran dropping game one 2-0. McCain finished with 2 hits (homerun, double) with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Jill McLaughlin (Brock, TX/Grayson JC) pitched the victory for HPU. She only allowed one hit before and after the fourth inning. She finished with three strikeouts and three earned runs.

In her final game in a Yellow Jacket uniform, Dayberly Hopper (Early, TX/EHS) went 2-for4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Cory Lee (Willow Park, TX/Weatherford HS) added a two-run double for the Jackets.

TLU's Amanda Stevens threw a three-hit shut out in game one. McLaughlin stroked two singles and Meredith Yates (Prosper, TX/PHS) had the other single.

The Jackets' finished their 2005 campaign with a 18-22 record and a fourth place finish in the tough ASC-West Division.
