TYLER, Texas - The Howard Payne Lady Jacket volleyball team won their first match 3-0 over Mississippi College but lost the next two 3-0 to the University of Texas-Tyler and the University of Texas-Dallas at the second American Southwest Conference Crossover Tournament this weekend.

Versus Mississippi College the Lady Jackets had three players with double digits in kills- So. OH Jessica Hutton (Austin) with 10, Sr. OH Sandra Fish (Burnet) with 10, and Sr. MB Destiny Barry (Burnet) with 12. So. Setter Patricia Brown (Tomball). HPU won the match 3-0(30-19,30-27,30-28).

In the second match versus the University of Texas-Tyler, who was hosting the tournament, HPU played them tight all three games but fell 3-0(32-34,26-30,28-30). Jr. OH Katie Preuss (Comfort) led the Lady Jackets with 10 kills on 25 swings for a .250 hitting pct.

In the last match versus the University of Texas-Dallas, HPU dropped the match 3-0(19-30,26-30,22,30). Destiny Barry led the team with 8 kills on 25 swings for a .200 hitting pct. Patricia Brown had 27 assists and 10 digs in the match.

The Lady Jackets will play on Tuesday at Texas Lutheran in Seguin at 6:00pm.
