BROWNWOOD, Texas – HPU's Amber Drigger bat and Tiffany Wolfe's arm ease HPU past the Lobo's of Sul Ross State the weekend at Jacket field.
Amber Driggers batted .909 in the four game series with 7 doubles, 1 triple, and 1 home run, while Tiffany Wolfe picked up three wins and pitched two one hitters.
Howard Payne held the Sul Ross Lady Lobos to one hit in game 1 on Friday. The Lady Jackets pounded out 14 hits in the game.
HPU's Tiffany Wolfe got the win for the Lady Jackets giving up only one hit. Auralee Horne took the loss after pitching four and a third in Friday's first game.
Sul Ross had a better performance at the plate in game 2 but couldn't manage the rally. Both runs for the Lady Lobos came in their opening at-bat.
HPU responded with 3, 3-run innings to take a commanding 9-2 lead. The Lady Jackets capped the victory with an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth for the 10-2 final.
Jill McLaughlin picked up the win giving up 2 runs on seven hits. Singh was tagged with the loss after pitching four and a third.
On Saturday, Howard Payne held Sul Ross to a hit while the Lady Jackets tallied in 9 in HPU's 8-0 win over Sul Ross in game 1.
HPU's Tiffany Wolf picked up her second one hitter of the weekend pitching four scoreless innings. SRSU's Auralee Horne got the loss.
Saturday's game 2 was an 8-2 HPU final in which HPU out hit Sul Ross 14-6.
HPU's Wolfe got her third win of the weekend pitching the complete game giving up 2 runs on six hits. SRSU's Singh was tabbed with the loss.
