BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Yellow Jackets of Howard Payne forced 31 Sul Ross State turnovers to post a 91-59 victory in the Brownwood Coliseum on Monday.

The game remained close with Sul Ross holding a slight advantage for the first 8 minutes of the first half. HPU took the lead for good in the game on a 3-pointer by Josh Weatherred with 11:43 left in the first. That sparked a Yellow Jacket run that led to a 46-29 halftime lead.

HPU expanded their lead in the second to go on to the 91-59 victory.

Sul Ross shot 12.5% from behind the arc.

The Jackets were led by Victor Hayes (Albuquerque) with a game-high 17points with 4 assists. Craig Blackmon (Houston) came off the bench to score 12. Kendrick Johnson (Houston) and John Bryant (China Springs) both had 11 points.

Anthony Miller and Filiberto Torres both had 10 points each for Sul Ross.

The Jackets will play on Thursday against Concordia-Austin at home.
