HPU Doninates Sul Ross

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Lady Jackets of Howard Payne used a 47 to 27 rebounding advantage to post a 81-31 victory over visiting Sul Ross State in the Brownwood Coliseum on Monday.

In Howard Payne's last meeting this season with Sul Ross the Lady Lobos were able to play the Lady Jackets to within 15 points. This time was much different as HPU jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.

HPU held Sul Ross to just 25% shooting in the first to grab a 40-14 halftime lead.

The Lady Jackets shot 48.4% from the field for the game and 73.9% from the free-throw line.

HPU was led by Meia Daniels (Fort Worth) with a game-high 19 points in only 15 minutes of action. Stacey Blalock (Magnolia) had 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Kim Hoffman (Bloomington) had 12 points and Hope Hohertz (Priddy) came off the bench to grab a team-high 9 rebounds. Everyone scored for the Lady Jackets.

Sul Ross was led by Nitra Woods with 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. No other Lady Lobos scored in double-digits.

HPU will play on Thursday versus Concordia-Austin at 5:30 p.m. in the Brownwood Coliseum.
