Poor Shooting Leads To Jackets Third Straight Loss

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Yellow Jackets, despite out-rebounding the visiting Louisiana College Wildcats 43 to 34, fall 68-63 Thursday in the Brownwood Coliseum.

The Jackets jumped out to an early 10-1 lead. Louisiana College then went on a 17-3 run to take a 18-13 lead with 6 minutes left in the first.

Both teams shot poorly in the first half but Louisiana College was able to go into the halftime break with a 24-21 lead.

In the second the Jackets were able to take the lead back with 13 minutes to play on a jumper by Sean Wheeler (San Angelo), 38-36.

There were 6 more ties after that point, but LC took the lead for good at 7 minutes and went on the win 68-63.

HPU was led by Sean Wheeler's 18 points. Josh Weatherred (Amarillo) scored 11 and Kendrick Johnson (Houston) grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds while scoring 9 points.

LC was led by Josh Johnson's game-high 27 points. Kase Gonzales also had 19 points.

The Jackets will play on Saturday against visiting Mississippi College at 3:00 pm in the Brownwood Coliseum.
