BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Lady Jackets gave up over 50 points for only the third time this season, but still posted a big win, 80-60, over visiting Mississippi College Saturday afternoon in the Brownwood Coliseum.
The Lady Jackets were out-rebounded 33-28 in the game but HPU forced 22 MC turnovers.
HPU jumped out to an early lead. MC was able to play HPU closer than anyone has this season in the first half. It was 37-24 at the half.
In the second, HPU was able to extend its lead and on post an 80-60 victory. Howard Payne shot their highest percentage from the floor this season (54.9%).
HPU was led by Meia Daniels (Fort Worth) with a game-high 23 points with 6 assists, and 6 rebounds. Stacey Blalock (Magnolia) had 19 points with 3 blocks and 4 steals. Heather Hohertz (Priddy) with 13 points and Kristin Hendricks (Ann Arbor, Mich) came off the bench and scored 10.
Mississippi College was lead by Natalie Jordan with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Emily Younger had 11, and Lacey Kennedy and Adrienne Clark had 10 each.
The Lady Jackets will be on the road next Thursday at Schreiner. It will be a 5:30 start.
