Jackets Close Out Season At Home

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne men's soccer program finished out the season at home during Homecoming with a 0-2 loss to Hardin-Simmons and a 3-1 win over McMurry at Citizens National Bank Field.

On Friday the Jackets took on Hardin-Simmons. The Yellow Jackets offense never really got in gear resulting in a 0-2 loss for HPU.

The HPU defense played well despite the score only allowing 3 shots on goal. HSU's goals were scored by Travis Krawulski and Patrick Almond.

HPU goal Keeper Malcolm Framjee recorded just one save in the match.

On Saturday the Jackets finished out the season strong with a 3-1 victory over McMurry University.

All the offense for both teams came in the first period with HPU scoring the first two goals of the game.

Chris Martinez got HPU on the scoreboard first in the 8th minute with Dennis Benitez scoring just three minutes later on a followup of a penalty kick.

HPU did not have their 2-0 lead for long as MCM's Nathan Perschke scored in the 17th minute.

Eduardo Nava gave the Jackets the cushion they needed when his goal with 15 minutes to play in the first period made it 3-1 HPU.

The victory completed the season for the Yellow Jackets with a record of 4 wins, 12 losses, and 1 tie.
