Lady Jackets Start Season With Victory Over Chapman

REDLANDS, California - The Howard Payne Lady Jackets committed 33 turnovers but still downed Chapman University 71-60 at the University of Redlands Tip-off Tournament on Friday.

The Lady Jackets led the entire game jumping out to an early lead. Chapman did battle back with strong full-court pressure and solid half-court defense to within 4 at the half. 31-27 HPU.

In the second, HPU extended their lead to as much as 15 points before securing the 71-60 victory.

Chapman had four players in double digits with Amelia Perez and Lauren Kamiyama with 17 and 15 respectively. Kikki Hayman had 13 points and Linda Ly added 11.

Howard Payne center Stacey Blalock led all scorers with 26 points. Meia Daniels who was double-teamed most of the game finished with 11. Kim Hoffman finished with a game-high 7 rebounds and 8 points.

The Lady Jackets will play the University of Redlands at 7:30 PM pacific on Saturday.
