BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne Lady Jackets pounded NCAA Division II University of Texas-Permian Basin Lady Falcons, 89-50, in a non-conference game on TexasBank Court in the Brownwood Coliseum.

The Lady Jackets started off the game with a 17-0 run on their way to a 47-26 halftime advantage. Howard Payne held the Lady Falcons to just 28% shooting in the first half, while managing 47% themselves.

The second half was more of the same as the Lady Jackets expanded their lead to the end total of 39 points, 89-50.

All-American Meia Daniels was huge for Howard Payne with 24 points and 4 steals. Daniels was also 3 of 4 from behind the arc. Stacey Blalock had 22 points and Kim Hoffman added 15 points and 8 rebounds. Hope Hohertz nearly had a double double with 9 points and a game high 11 rebounds.

UTPB was lead by Crystal Johnson with 22 points and 7 rebounds. No other UTPB player scored in double digits.

Howard Payne improved to 9-0 overall, while UTPB fell to 1-12 on the season.

The Lady Jackets will play at home on Thursday against the University of Texas Dallas at 5:30 PM.
