MARSHALL, Texas – The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets won their 4th straight game of the season in a 78-60 victory over the Tigers of East Texas Baptist University on Saturday.
The game was close in the first half with four lead changes. The Jackets then used a 9-2 run in the closing minutes of the first to take a 36-27 halftime advantage.
Lee Scott and Daytona Burch both had a big second half to help HPU extended their lead and post a 78-60 win.
Lee Scott led the Jackets with 19 points and Daytona Burch had a career high 17 points with 10 rebounds. Tom Hermann added 9 points.
ETBU was led by La'France Cooper with a game high 21 points along with 10 rebounds. Nick Garrett added 11 points.
Howard Payne improved to 5-2 on the season and 3-1 in ASC action, while ETBU fell to 2-6 overall and 2-2 in the ASC.
Howard Payne will play next on Monday against LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas.
