Jackets Drop 16th Of The Season

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets shot just 32.8% from the floor in the 60-90 loss to McMurry University in the Brownwood Coliseum on Saturday.

The Yellow Jackets managed just a 32.8% shooting percentage for the game and was 6 of 28 from beyond the 3-point arc.

McMurry was in control for most of the first half and led 39-27 at intermission. In the first, McMurry shot 38.2% from the field and held the Yellow Jackets to 10 of 29 from the floor.

By the first media timeout in the second half, McMurry had opened with a 19-4 run to push the score to 58-31 with 14:31 remaining.

Howard Payne had three players in double figures with Tom Hermann (Fort Worth) leading the way with 13 points and Lee Scott (Snyder) and Kendrick Johnson (Houston) added 11 apiece.

Alvin Stevens and Terrance Willis led McMurry in scoring with 16 and 15 points respectively. Robert Moreno, Emile Brown and Chris Gammage all had 8 points each for McMurry.

The Jackets will play on the road against Concordia-Austin on Thursday.
