HPU Splits With TLU

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne Lady Jackets drop game one 10-6 but take game two 15-3 over Texas Lutheran University to remain in first-place in the American Southwest Conference West Division.

Howard Payne improves to 27-7, 16-4 ASC while TLU drops to 18-16, 12-8 in ASC action.

In game one Saturday, Jayme Reiss and Alison Organ each homered for the Texas Lutheran, and Christina Jacobsen, in a much different performance than Friday, tossed a complete game.

The TLU bats caught fire jumping out to an early 6-0 lead. HPU's Jill McLaughlin got the loss for the Lady Jackets.

TLU's Jacobsen started the second game but could not get out of the second inning. The Yellow Jackets scored 11 runs in the frame. HPU went on to win 15-3. Jenna Middleton received the win for Howard Payne. Jacobsen took the game two loss.

Howard Payne had 15 hits in game two, and TLU committed seven errors in the late game loss.

Lady Jackets play on the road next weekend at Hardin-Simmons.
