Lady Jacket Take Mississppi College In Five

LONGVIEW, Texas - The Howard Payne Lady Jacket volleyball team defeated Mississippi College 3-2 (25-21,18-25,25-23,18-25,15-13) in the first round of the American Southwest Conference Crossover Tournament #2 at LeTourneau University.

Howard Payne only hit a .049 hitting pct. in the match but was able to pull out the win. After HPU took set one 25-21 each team alternated taking sets till Howard Payne finished Mississippi College off 15-13 in the fifth and deciding set.

HPU was lead by Tamika Heline and Megan Pick with 12 and 10 kills respectively. Heline also added 4 total blocks and 17 diigs. Amy Crouch led in assists with 23.

MC was led by Sarah Conway with 19 kills. Allie Mullins has 48 assists and Amanda Greene had 22 digs.

Howard PAyne improves to 12-10 overall and 5-8 in ASC play, while MC falls to 13-10 overall and 5-8 in ASC action.

The Lady Jackets will play tommorrow in the crossover tournament against East Texas Baptist and host LeTourneau University.
