Kelli Wentworth(#18) scored and had three assists versus McMurry

ABILENE, Texas - The Howard Payne Lady Jackets scored early and often in a 6-0 victory over American Southwest Conference opponent McMurry University Friday afternoon.

The Lady Jackets scored just 1:06 into the game when Susana Chavarria got a Kelli Wentworth pass and scored from 10 yards out. Howard Payne got two other scores in the first period. 

Lori Gomez scored in the 11th minute (Ashli McCutchen assist) from 30 yards out. In the 14th minute Kelli Wentworth received a Lauren Hankins pass for a score on breakaway. HPU held a 3-0 halftime advantage.

Takenda Cotton scored four minutes into the second period (Kelli Wentworth assist). Susana Chavarria recorded an unassisted goal in the 51st minute off free-kick from 30 yards out. Lauren Hankins ended the HPU scoring run in the 68th minute on a pass from Kelli Wentworth.

The Lady Jackets improve to 9-7 overall, 6-4 ASC play, while McMurry falls to 0-13 overall and 0-9 in ASC action.

Howard Payne will play tommorrow at Hardin-Simmons University, a 1:00 pm start.
