Offense Leads To Big Win Over Concordia

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne women's soccer team shutout Concordia University Texas 5-0 led by Kelli Wentworth's 3 goals in American Southwest Conference action at Citizens National Bank Field Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Jackets outshot Concordia 19 to 3 in the game with Concordia only managing 2 shots on goal to HPU's 9.

HPU held a 1-0 halftime advantage with a goal from Kelli Wentworth in the 30th minute. Wentworth's three goals came in the 30th, 77th, and 78th minutes of the match.

Takenda Cotton added two goals in the 66th and 80th minutes while also recording 2 assists. Emily Nutt, Lori Gomez, and Nelly Ruiz also got assists in the match.

The Lady Jackets improve to 5-5-0,4-2-0 ASC and a 4th place tie in the ASC standings. Concordia falls to 3-6-2,2-4-0 ASC.

Howard Payne will play next on Thursday in Clarksville, AR against the University of the Ozarks.
