Lady Jackets Thump Sul Ross

BROWNWOOD, Texas – Lady Jackets thump the Sul Ross Lady Lobos 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-13) to finish off their winning season at the Brownwood Coliseum Saturday afternoon.

Patricia Brown, the Lady Jacket's only senior, played an outstanding game with 22 assists. Giving her a total of 2,794 assists in her Howard Payne volleyball career.

Howard Payne came out the first set defensively strong, holding the Lady Lobos to 4 kills while the Lady Jackets slam 13. Winning the first set the Lady Jackets come out with even more momentum in the second. They put down 16 kills out of 35 attempts with only 2 attack errors.

Up 2-0 on the Lady Lobos, the Lady Jackets refuse to ease up. With 32 attack attempts the Lady Jackets place down 20 kills. Howard Payne holds Sul Ross to 5 kills and 13 points.

With the help of Tamika Heline 14 kills and Kristin Hammond 12 digs, the Lady Jackets end their season with the 3-0 victory.

The Lady Jackets finish out there 2008 season with an overall record of 16-13 and 8-10 in ASC play. Their first winning season since 2001.
