Lady Jackets Finish Season In Belton

BELTON, Texas - The Howard Payne Lady Jackets scored first but could not hold on to the lead and ended their season with a 1-2 loss to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

The Lady Jackets finish the season with the first winning season in the three year history of the program at 10-9-0 overall and 7-6-0 in ASC play.

Howard Payne finished in a three-way tie for 6th place with East Texas Baptist and Texas Lutheran in the American Southwest Conference. The tie-breaker procedure gave the 6th and final playoff spot to Texas Lutheran.

Lauren Hankins scored just 13 minutes into the game but UMHB got two goals in the last 10 minutes of the first period. The halftime score was a 1-2 UMHB.

Howard Payne needing to at least tie UMHB to get the 6th ASC playoff spot was unable to score in the second period.

Allison Gudmundson played all 90 minutes in goal for HPU and recorded 2 saves.
