Lady Jackets Start Season With A Win

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne Lady Jackets soccer team held visiting Wayland Baptist to just 3 first half shots on their way to a 1-0 victory at Citizens National Bank Field.

Howard Payne outshot Wayland 13 to 7 in the game. HPU had just 2 shots on goal with one finding the back on the net in the 65th minute of the game when Takenda Cotton (Brownwood, Texas) found Kelli Wentworth (Wylie, Texas) for the only goal of the game.

Rachael Hardegree (Midlothian, Texas) played all 90 minutes in goal for HPU recording just one save.

The Lady Jackets will play again on Saturday against visiting Texas Wesleyan University at 3:00 pm.
