HPU Wins Conference Opener

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Yellow Jackets held visiting Schreiner to just three shots on goals on thier way to a 1-0 victory in American Southwest Conference action at Citizens Nationa Bank Field Friday afternoon.

The only score in the game came after a Schreiner University foul at the top of the penalty box. HPU's Ben Bishop took the free kick and found the back of the net for the game winner in the 82nd minute of the game.

Francisco Medina played all 90 minutes in goal for Howard Payne recording three saves.

The Jackets improve to 2-0-1 overall, 1-0 in ASC play, while Schreiner falls to 0-4-0 overall, 0-1 in ASC action.

Howard Payne will take on Texas Lutheran tomorrow at Citizens Nationa Bank Field at 4:00 pm.
