Offensive Explosion Leads To 6-1 Win

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne Lady Jacket soccer team scored a school record six goals against American Southwest Conference opponent Schreiner University at Citizens Nationa Bank Field Friday afternoon. HPU won 6-1.

Takenda Cotton and Kelli Wentworth led Howard Payne with 2 goals and 1 assist each. Allison Harp and Emily Nutt also added a goal each. 

The Lady Jackets held a 2-0 halftime advantage and outshot Schreiner 14-1 in the half.

The HPU defense despite giving up one goal in the 59th minute of the game only allowed three total shots in the game.

Rachael Hardegree played all 90 minutes in goal for HPU recording 1 save.

The Lady Jackets improve to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in ASC action, while Schreiner falls to 0-5 overall, 0-1 in ASC play.

Howard Payne will take on Texas Lutheran University on Saturday at home in another ASC matchup. It will be a 2:00 pm start time.
