Lady Jackets Get Big 1-0 Win Over TLU

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne women's soccer team only needed 1 goal by standout freshman Takenda Cotton to down Texas Lutheran University 1-0 at Citizens National Bank Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Howard Payne defense only allowed 8 total shot (3 on goal) in the entire game. It was a 0-0 tie at the half. 

The Lady Jackets scored the game winner in the 76th minute when Takenda Cotton found the back of the net on a Lauren Hankins assist. 

The win marks the first time the Lady Jackets had defeated ASC power TLU in their three year history.

Howard Payne improves to 3-3 overall and 2-0 in ASC play. TLU fell to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in ASC action.

The Lady Jackets will be on the road next Friday at LeTourneau University in Longview.
