Jackets Lose At Schreiner

HPU's Bryan Blalock scores a career high 20 points and Tom Hermann passes 1,000 career points against Schreiner

KERRVILLE, Texas – The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets only managed 38% from the field and lost 64-76 to Schreiner University Thursday at the Edington Center.

The game remained close early but Schreiner was able to slowly build a 9-point lead, 22-31 with 4:57 left in the first half. Schreiner held a 27-36 halftime advantage. 

In the second the Jackets got back to within 3-points, 54-57, with 5:26 to play in the game. The Jackets shooting woes continue and that was as close as the HPU would get. Schreiner won in the end 64-76. 

Schreiner was led by Riley Battle with a game-high 31 points. Ralph Turner and Mike Uwaga had 12 and 10 points respectively. Uwaga added a game-high 15 rebounds. 

Bryan Blalock led Howard Payne with a career high 20 points. Tom Hermann had 13 points and 8 rebounds. Hermann also surpassed 1,000 points in his career as a Yellow Jacket. Keith Perry added 10 points and 8 rebounds. 

Howard Payne falls to 4-14 overall and 4-10 in ASC play, while Schreiner improves to 5-13, 5-9 in ASC action.
