Shooting Woes For The Jackets

TYLER, Texas – The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets just manage 32% shooting from the field and fall to the University of Texas – Tyler 56-89 in American Southwest Crossover action Thursday night. 

Howard Payne shooting woes were not only from the field with the Jackets only hitting 12 of 22 (54.5%) from the free-throw line. 

Not many things were going right for the Yellow Jackets as they were down 30-42 at the halftime break. UT-Tyler started the second half with a 16-1 run to break the game open. UTT went on the win 56-89. 

UTT was led by Marlon Hill with 24 points and 9 rebounds. Hakeem Kareem had 20 and Anthony Reese added 16. Michael Johnson came off the bench to score 11. 

Tom Hermann and Brandon Irwin led HPU with 13 points each. Bryan Blalock added 8 points. 

The Jackets fall to 3-10 overall and 3-6 in ASC play, while UTT improves to 5-6, 5-1 in ASC action. 

Howard Payne plays next at home versus Concordia University next Thursday.
