Women's Soccer Downs Ozarks

BROWNWOOD, Texas- Leading goal scorer Leslie Jones got her eighth and ninth to lead the Howard Payne women's team to victory, 4-2 over University of the Ozarks Friday afternoon.

The game was wide open until Leslie Jones scored the first goal on a penalty kick in the 36th minute, making it 1-0.

The next two goals came within  seconds of each other as Karla Kalantar scored her second on the season from Emily Nutt making it 2-0. Then the Ozarks, Kristyn Shinn, came right back to make it 2-1 just 15 seconds later.

Leslie added her second goal on the day in the 60th minute from Lauren Hankins to make the difference two goals.

Susana Chavarria put the nail in the coffin when she scored off a free kick from the right of the box making 4-1 HPU.

Ozarks Kristyn Shinn got a second goal to make it 4-2 in the 75th but it was to late as that was the way the game ended. 

Howard Payne had 15 shots on goal to the Ozarks three, and six corners kicks to Ozarks one.

The Lady Jackets go to 5-5-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the ASC, while the Ozarks drop to 3-9-0 overall and 2-4-0 in the ASC.

The next game for the Lady Jackets is on Saturday, 1pm at home against UT-Dallas.
