HPU Wins 2-1 In 2nd Overtime

PLAINVIEW, Texas - The Howard Payne women's soccer team picked up their first win of the season with a 2-1 overtime victory over Wayland Baptist University Friday afternoon.

After finishing regulation and the first overtime period tied 1-1, HPU's Leslie Jones scored the golden goal in the 108th minute on an assist from Alyssa Biere.

Takenda Cotton scored an unassisted goal to put Howard Payne on the scoreboard first in the 26th minute. Wayland's Stephanie Coronado scored in the 32nd minute to tie the game at 1-1.

Kaitlyn Kelm played the whole game in goal for Howard Payne recording seven saves. Kylie Middleton was in goal for Wayland with seven saves.

The Lady Jackets improve to 1-2 overall, while Wayland falls to 2-4 overall. Howard Payne travels to Eastern New Mexico University for a game on Saturday.
