KERRVILLE, Texas - The Howard Payne Lady Jacket soccer team scored in the 76th minute to down Schreiner University in the American Southwest Conference opener Friday afternoon.

Howard Payne outshot Schreiner 17-10, but Schreiner edge HPU in fouls 11-5 in the game. Kaitlyn Kelm recorded the shutout win with six saves.

HPU's Susana Chavarria scored the game winning goal in the 76th minute on an assist from Shannon Costello. 

Howard Payne improves to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in ASC action, while Schreiner falls to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in ASC play.

The Lady Jackets travel to Segiun on Saturday to play Texas Lutheran in an ASC match up.
