Lady Jackets Tie TLU

SEGUIN, Texas - The Howard Payne women's soccer team played Texas Lutheran University to a 1-1 tie in American Southwest Conference action Saturday afternoon.

After recording a shutout the previous day against Schreiner, Howard Payne goal keeper Kaitlyn Kelm recorded nine saves and allowed only one score in her 110 minutes in goal.

Howard Payne scored first on an unassisted goal by Takenda Cotton in the 39th minute. Cotton took seven shots on the day, four on goal.

TLU's Kristin Meloni tied it up at 1-1 in the 54th minute on a penalty kick.

HPU now stands at 2-3-1 overall and 1-0-1 ASC action. TLU is now 2-3-1 overall, 0-1-1 ASC play.

Howard Payne will play at home next week on Friday and Saturday versus LeTourneau University and East Texas Baptist University.
