Lady Jackets Win Big Over LeTourneau

Leslie Jones records first hat trick of her career against LeTourneau

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne Lady Jacket soccer team downed LeTourneau University 6-2 in American Southwest Conference action Friday at Citizens National Bank Field.

Leslie Jones got her first hat trick of her career scoring the first two goals on the game (18th and 23rd minutes) and her third (unassisted) in the 64th minute. 

Howard Payne held a 2-0 halftime lead and was up 4-0 before LeTourneau scored a goal. LeTourneau got two goals in the 47th and 85th minutes both from Kirby Posey.

Karla Kalantar scored her first goal as a Lady Jacket in he 47th minute on an assist from Susana Chavarria. Lauren Hankins followed with a goal just a minute later on an assist from Chavarria.

Takenda Cotton added the final HPU goal in the 81st minute on an assist from Lori Horn.

Howard Payne outshot LeTourneau 17 to 11 in the game. HPU goal keeper Kaitlyn Kelm play almost the entire game recording two saves. Takenda Cotton play the final 1:33 in the game in goal.

Howard Payne improves to 3-3-1 overall and 2-0-1 in ASC action, while LeTourneau falls to 3-4-0, 1-2-0 in ASC play.

The Lady Jackets will play East Texas Baptist on Saturday at home. It will be a 2:00 pm start.
