HPU Drops First ASC Match

BROWNWOOD, Texas- The Lady Jackets record their first American Southwest Conference loss of the season when ETBU scored in the 89th minute to make it, 1-0, at Citizens National Bank Field Saturday.

At the half it was an even game 0-0. Both teams played strong and overtime seemed to be coming, but one last push from ETBU made the difference.

ETBU's Rebecca Davis scored on an assist from Danica Saxon. That score was the ETBU game winner with a minute and a half remaining.

Both teams had their opportunities, with HPU having 4 shots on goal and ETBU having 6. Keeper Kaitlyn Kelm had 5 saves on the day and opposing keeper Tamara Carlisle had 4.

The loss takes the Lady Jackets record to 3-4-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the ASC, while ETBU goes to 3-4-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the ASC.

The Lady Jackets next match is against University of Texas at Tyler away from home on Oct. 1.
