HPU Falls 0-4 To Southwestern

GK Allison Gudmundson had 7 saves versus Southwestern

BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne women's soccer team dropped their second game in a row 0-4 to Southwestern University Saturday afternoon at Citizen's National Bank Field. 

Southwestern led 0-3 at the break scoring goals in the 6th, 12th, and 22nd minute. Despite giving up three goals in the first period keeper Allison Gudmundson played solid and recorded 7 saves. 

The Howard Payne defense held Southwestern to just one goal (61st minute) in the second period. Kaitlyn Kelm as goal keeper in the second period, posted 5 saves of her own. 

Takenda Cotton and Lauren Hankins led HPU with two shots each in the game. Southwestern's AJ Andreola led all with seven shots leading to 2 goals. 

Howard Payne falls to 0-2-0 on the year, while Southwestern improves to 2-0-0 overall. The Lady Jackets travel to Wayland Baptist University next Friday to play a non-conference game at 2:00 pm.
