Jackets Can't Overcome First Half Deficit

BELTON, Texas – The Howard Payne men's soccer team was unable to rally from a 4-0 first half deficit and fell to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in American Southwest Conference action Saturday afternoon.

UMHB got two early goals from Derek Geels in the 10th and 11th minutes. UMHB then added two addition goals before the half to lead 4-0 at the break.

Howard Payne was outshot 19 to 4 in the game. All of the HPU shots were on goal.

Malcolm Framjee played all 90 minutes in goal for the Jackets recording five saves. UMHB goalkeeper Mark Miller had four saves.

Howard Payne still remains in a strong position for an ASC playoff spot at 9-4-1 overall and 7-4-0 in ASC action. UMHB improves to 11-3-0 overall and 8-3-0 in conference play.

The Jackets will have a non-conference match at home versus the University of Dallas next Tuesday at 4:00 pm.
