Lady Jackets Fall In Closing Minutes

BROWNWOOD, Texas - A late goal from University of Texas-Tyler is the difference in a 1-0 loss for the Howard Payne University women's soccer team.

It wasn't until the 83rd minute that the Patriots, Lauren Thomas, scored a goal on a counter attack from the left side. The goal was assisted by Analiz Medina.

HPU Goal Keeper, Adrienne Walker, played a solid game, coming out of her goalie box to grab many loose balls and also recorded one save. UTT GK Morgan Dux ended the game with 3 saves.

After the first half, UTT had 7 shots to the 1 shot of HPU. Fouls were even at 4 all. HPU had 3 shots on goal for the game, UTT had 4. Fouls ended UTT-10 and HPU-8.

UTT's Thomas picked up a yellow card in the 13th minute. Around the same time HPU's Walker pick up a yellow as well.

The HPU women go to 2-3-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the American Southwest Conference. UTT goes to 5-3-0 overall and 3-1-0 in the ASC.

The next two games for the Jackets are on the road Sept. 30 against UT-Dallas in Richardson, TX and Oct. 2 against the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas.
