HPU Falls To Southwestern In OT

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University fell 1-0 in overtime to Southwestern University in non-Conference action at Citizens National Bank Field Monday afternoon.

In this battle of defenses, each team allowed less than four shots on goal in the game. HPU goal keeper Adrienne Walker recorded four saves. Southwestern goal keeper Sarah Nonaka gained the win with three saves.

The game winner came in the 100th minute when Southwestern's Cailey McLain scored on a Maria Pollifrone cross from the bottom of box.

The game was the annual Pink Out game for the Lady Jackets with money being raised through donors and t-shirt sales for breast cancer awareness.

Howard Payne is now 9-5 overall and Southwestern stands at 7-6-2 overall. The Lady Jackets will finish out the regular season conference schedule this weekend playing at Texas Lutheran University on Friday and Schreiner University on Saturday.
