Jackets Fall To MC

CLINTON, Miss - Howard Payne University could not hold on to an early lead and fell to Mississippi College 1-2 in American Southwest Conference men's soccer action Thursday afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets got one the board first when Shane Cazad found Reese Lawson for the header in the 25th minute of play.

MC answered back just two minutes later when Brian Vasquez scored his first of two goals in the game on a 25 yard free kick.

The game remained tied at 1-1 untill the 76th minute when Vasquez scored his second of the game on an assist from Danilo Ivan Brizuela.

Kyle Huesing played all 90 minutes in goal for HPU recording six saves. Robert Jackson played the whole game in goal for MC recording just one save.

Howard Payne now stands at 4-5 overall and 2-4 in conference play. MC is now 9-3 overall and 4-2 in ASC action.

The Yellow Jackets will be in Pineville, LA on Saturday taking on Louisiana College.
