HPU Falls At Mississippi College

CLINTON, Miss - The Howard Payne University men's basketball team fell 94-72 to hot shooting Mississippi College Saturday afternoon in confernce action.

The HPU Yellow Jackets could not recover from a run by Mississippi College late in the first half. MC led 44-31 at the break and pushed their lead to as much as 23 eight minutes into the second half. MC shot 62% from the field and 47% from behind the arc in the game.

HPU is now 3-4 overall and 1-3 in conference action. MC is 1-3 overall and 1-3 in conference.

The Jackets were able to cut the MC lead to just 11, 65-54 on a Brandon Gould layup with ten minutes left in the game. Gould finished with 18 points for Howard Payne.

MC extended their lead again and held on for the 94-72 win. MC had six players in double digits led by Chad Jones' 22 points.

Brandon Irwin also had 18 points along with five rebounds for the Jackets. Joshua Dada also added 17 points for HPU.

The Jackets will be at home next Saturday at 7:30 pm versus the University of Texas at Tyler.
