Lady Jackets Drop Season Opener

BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne women's tennis team open their 2011 team tennis season with a 3-6 loss to LeTourneau University at the Nabers Tennis Center Thursday afternoon.

The #1 doubles team of Gabi Crunelle and Lillie Davis defeated the LeTourneau team 8-4. HPU dropped the #2 and #3 doubles matches, 8-2 and 9-7.

Howard Payne only won two singles matches. The #3 singles Lillie Davies won 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 and #5 singles Emilee Stephens 4-6, 7-6(7-5), 10-3.

The Lady Jackets will play the University of Texas – Tyler on Friday at home. It will be a 2:00 pm start.
