Jackets Lose To D-II Dallas Baptist

DALLAS, Texas - The Howard Payne men's tennis team fell 6-3 to NCAA D-II Dallas Baptist University in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon.

The normally solid doubles play by the Yellow Jackets fell short with Howard Payne dropping all three double matches to Dallas Baptist to start the day.

With Dallas Baptist already up 3-0, both teams recorded three singles points to lead to the final 6-3 outcome.

HPU's Edward Martinez won 6-2, 6-1 in the #1 singles, Jeff Toyne won 6-4, 6-1 in the #2 singles, and Ryan Prather won in the third set 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 in the #6 singles spot.

Howard Payne is now 6-4 on the season and Dallas Baptist, at 1-13 overall, records their first team win of the year. The Yellow Jackets next match is on April 5th at the Nabers Tennis Center versus conference opponent Schreiner University.
