VB Gets Crossover Started With Win Over ETBU

ABILENE, Texas - The Howard Payne University volleyball team got a 3-2 (24-26, 23-25, 26-24, 25-13, 15-13)
win over East Texas Baptist University on day one of the American Southwest Conference Crossover Tournament Friday evening.

The win over East Texas Baptist was the first for the HPU Lady Jackets since the 2000 season.

The Lady Jackets found themselves down early dropping the first two games 26-24 and 25-23. Howard Payne won a tight third game 26-24 before going on to finish the match with a 25-13 game and a 15-13 fifth game.

Tamika Heline and Sarah Bishop led HPU with 14 and 11 kills respectively. Jessica Guerra recorded 40 assists for the Lady Jackets.

HPU will take on Mississippi College and Centenary College on day two of the crossover tournament.
