Lady Jackets Finish Season With 3-0 Win

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne volleyball team won the first and third sets in extended play to take a 3-0 conference victory over visiting Sul Ross State University Friday in the Brownwood Coliseum.

The Lady Jackets had to go to extended play to win the first set 27-25. After winning the second set 25-19, HPU again needed extended play to secure the third match 28-26. 

Sarah Bishop led HPU with 14 kills followed by Hannah Hicks and Taylor Jordan with 8 kills each. Jessica Guerra had 18 assists and Shelby Bridges added 26 digs.

Howard Payne seniors, Carlee Ammons, Sarah Davies and Jessica Guerra were recognized during the intermission period between sets two and three. The victory gave Howard Payne head coach Ken Carver the win he needed to place him at the top of the all-time wins list as a HPU coach with 77.

Howard Payne finishes the season at 10-16 overall and Sul Ross stands at 3-18 overall to end the year.
