Cross Country Wraps Up Season At ASC Championships

CLINTON, Texas - Carissa Zarate and Bobby Estevis were the top Yellow Jacket finishers as the Howard Payne women's and men's cross country teams finished 12th and 10th respectively at the 2012 American Southwest Conference Championships this weekend.

For the Lady Jackets, Carissa Zarate finished in the 52nd spot overall with a time of 28:51.84 in the 6K race. Shelby Bryd finished 65th with a time of 30:19.20. Amanda Gober rounded out the top three HPU finishers in the 68th spot with a time of 30:31.25.

Tylene Middleton ran 32:32.18, Nayla Villanueva 34:37.84, and Shandi Winstead was at 38:02.36.

On the men's side, Bobby Estevis was the top Yellow Jacket runner finishing in the 62nd spot with a time of 31:13.17 in the 8K race. Derek Wilson finished just three spots behind him with a time of 31:22.47. Brady Timmons finished just behind WIlson with a time of 31:31.68.

Sean Locker finished with a time of 32:05.73, Geremy Garza was at 32:59.65 and Quinton Poe ran a 34:04.18.

The HPU women had a team time of 2:36:52.32 and the men's overall time was 2:39:12.70.
