BROWNWOOD, Texas - Leslie Jones scored consecutive goals to lead the Howard Payne women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over conference opponent Texas Lutheran University Friday at Citizens National Bank Field.

HPU got on the scoreboard first on a shot from Leslie Jones over the defender's head in the 15th minute. Jones struck again in the 36th minute dribbling from right side of field through the TLU defense.

The Lady Jackets would increase their lead in the 68th minute to 3-0 on a TLU own goal off of a Shannon Costello corner kick. TLU's Sioned Kirkpatrick scored in the 77th minute to bring the match to its final 3-1 score.

All team stats were close to equal except HPU held an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks. Adrienne Walker got the win for HPU recording four saves in 90 minutes of action in goal.

Howard Payne nows stands at 3-5 overall and Texas Lutheran falls to 4-6 overall. The Lady Jackets will play host to Schreiner University on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
