Lady Jackets Defeat Bethel 66-57

SAN ANONIO, Texas – The Howard Payne women's basketball team downs Bethel University 66-57 on day two of the Trinity University Tournament Saturday afternoon.

Both teams only managed 34% shooting in the game and 66% from the free-throw line. The Lady Jackets did force 26 Bethel turnovers while only committing 16 themselves.

After finding themselves down 29-28 at the half, Howard Payne would gain the lead and extend it to nine midway through the second half.

Tresta Donahoo led HPU with 15 points, seven assists and eight rebounds. Dana Marrs also finished with 15 points with four assists. Senae Dillard followed with 12 points and a team high 11 rebounds. Morgan Marriott played great off the bench defensively with six blocks.

Bethel was led by Rachel Parupsky with 21 points and 16 rebounds. Katelyn Vavra added 15 points.

Howard Payne improves to 9-2 overall and while Bethel remains winless on the year at 0-7.The Lady Jackets will play next on January 3rd at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, AR.
