Jackets Lose At LeTourneau

LONGVIEW, Texas – The Howard Payne men's basketball team loses on the road 68-50 to LeTourneau University Saturday afternoon in conference action.

The Jackets shot just 37% from the field in the game and were 2 of 13 from behind the arc (15.4%). LeTourneau maintained a slight lead throughout the first half and held a 34-29 halftime advantage.

Howard Payne was 0 for 7 from behind the arc in the second half as LeTourneau slowly extended their lead. Outrebounding HPU 40-29 in the game, LeTourneau would go on to secure the game 68-50.

HPU was led by Brandon Gould with 16 points and three assists. Christian Davis followed with 14.

Kendrae Carter and Justin Jones had 15 and 14 points respectively. Jones also added a game high 10 rebounds.

Howard Payne is now 1-5 overall and 0-4 in conference play. LeTourneau stands at 3-5 overall and 2-2 in conference.

Howard Payne will play next on Saturday, December 15th at home versus East Texas Baptist University at 3:00 pm.
